Create health instead of just treating disease

Create health instead of just treating disease

Medicine has focused on treating disease,
but might it be better to focus on creating health?
To optimize our health, wellbeing and our function.

For many people as they get older they stop going on long hikes, or other activities that involve a lot of movement,
and instead a huge percentage of people are taking regular pilgrimages to the doctor and hospitals,
trying to stay alive for as long as possible, while suffering with multiple conditions.
many of which were brought on by sedentary behaviour and other lifestyle behaviours.

and for some, the last few years of their lives are long, painful, expensive deaths.
What kind of end to life is that?

Would you prefer a situation where you take the steps you need to take today to feel better than ever?
And as a result, experience good health in your later years?

When I’m in my 90s I’d like to be able to train for the centenarian Olympics,
rather than stuck in an old people’s home, taking multiple pills to keep the pain at bay.

How do you become a vibrant, alive, connected, healthy human at 100 years old?
Think 10, 20, 30 years from now. What kind of life do you want to live?
Do you want to be able to keep up with your kids, your grandkids, and your great grandkids?
Do you want to be able to travel, have adventures, walk without pain, be mentally sharp, be focused, be learning your whole life?

Wouldn’t it be better to be resilient and strong in the face of the global pandemic of disease,
like the one we’re currently facing. To thrive and to die young, as late as possible?

From your experience when you see a GP,
how often have they had the time to truly look at what are the root causes of the ailments you have?
Or is your experience that doctors are mostly treating the symptoms and trying to keep them at bay?

I help my clients to think about creating health.
To look at the body as a whole system,
to look at Sleep, Breathing, Nutrition, Movement & Mindset,
to optimize the essential functions of our body to create health,
like our immune system, gut microbiome, hormones, energy systems,
how we make energy in our bodies, our detoxification system, our muscles, our nutritional status.

By helping the people I work with improve their sleep quality and quantity, so they get more deep sleep and REM sleep.
To have better functional breathing so that they don’t get out of breath so quickly, and are unable to play with their grandkids.
To eat food that aids their autoimmune system rather than creates inflammation and fights against it.
To have regular movement in their lives so they’re not so prone to breaking bones if they fall down
and above all to have the mindset of knowing they can take responsibility for their own health, and be proactive about it,
rather than what so many people do, which is to be reactive, and wait until the pain, or the tumour shows or receive the diagnosis

When you create health, often disease goes away as a side effect.
