EE087 – Hilary Grosskopf

Tony Winyard – Health, Breathing, Sleeping, Mindset & Movement Coach
Hilary Grosskopf is a leadership strategist, award-winning author, yoga teacher, and founder of Awake Leadership Solutions. She has written two books for leaders, Awake Leadership: a system for leading with clarity and creativity and Awake Ethics: a system for aligning your actions with your core intentions.
Topics discussed in this episode:
As an analyst where Hilary learned to / has exceeded expectations), she learned that exceeding expectations at work is about going beyond the basics. She couldn’t just crunch and present the numbers, she had to learn how to present information clearly, ensure accuracy, design timelines, and think ahead on behalf of her audience.
As a leader Hilary found that exceeding expectations was actually more about exceeding expectations of her team members (rather than just the boss or upper management) in order to succeed and progress. This is often overlooked or misunderstood by many leaders who believe that exceeding expectations is only about impressing the boss and upper management.
Connection and Context. Helping leaders (from new rising leaders to seasoned executives) to exceed expectations by practicing empathy and zooming out to think bigger-picture.
Interest in development and providing opportunities for deeper involvement. Yoga and leadership connection.
Common misunderstandings: Leaders Hilary coach and work with often think that they should only exceed the boss or upper management’s expectations. However, success as a leader is really about exceeding the expectations of your team! Real success as a leader is achieved by exceeding expectations of your team members.
